Benefits of Pumpkin for the Skin plus a recipe for DIY mask

I love using food for the skin.  Often if it is good for us to eat it also has topical benefits that can be readily absorbed by the skin.  Pumpkin is full of vitamin A which can soothe and soften the skin.  It also has vitamin C which acts as an antioxidant helping to fight free radicals on the skin.  Pumpkin is rich in zinc which can help with acne and collagen production.  The active enzymes in pumpkin are a natural exfoliant which helps to remove dead skin cells and prompts the skin to regenerate itself.   All in all, applying pumpkin to the skin aids in a glowing, younger, acne-free complexion.

When making a mask at home it is always best to use fresh ingredients as they are more active than canned or processed foods.  So if you have some leftover cooked pumpkin here is a recipe you can easily make at home:

1 tbsp pumpkin puree, 1 tsp raw honey, 1 tsp plain yogurt

Mix together and apply to your face, leave on fro 10-20 minutes, rinse off and apply moisturizer.  This mask is a bit messy so it is best to drape a towel around your neck before applying.  And it is always best to cleanse your skin before applying a mask.  Hope you enjoy!
